Dental Education at Home
Educating your children is paramount to their dental health. Have you taught your child how to take care of their teeth since they were toddlers? Many parents know that they need to tell kids to brush and floss their teeth, but do you model this behavior? Show your child how important dental self-care is by implementing your own hygiene in front of them. Also, make sure to keep up with their preventive dental appointments every six months from the time teeth first start to erupt. At these appointments we can clean off plaque and tartar and provide extra fluoride and dental sealants.
Dental Education in the Office
We’ll follow up your educational efforts with more education when you and your children visit for checkups. Our entire dental team, including hygienists and assistants are always happy to offer practical advice on encouraging children to brush and floss properly and thoroughly. We will even demonstrate effective flossing techniques and recommend appropriate dental health products to safely clean your child’s adorable smile. If you notice any changes in your child’s oral health, don’t hesitate to call us. Some children require early orthodontics to make space for the 32 adult teeth they can expect to erupt over the years. In some cases, a tooth won’t erupt properly, or two teeth may grow in fused together. For teenagers, third molars (i.e. wisdom teeth) may cause pain and irritation, or crowd their existing smile. Some teens are interested in teeth whitening or cosmetic bonding to improve their smile. Rest assured that as your children grow, our dental team will work with you to ensure optimal oral health.
